How I Imagine the Demon Slayer Hashiras as Beverages

Hello Sunny Siders, I hope you all are having a wonderful day. Today, I am sharing some drawings I did inspired by the Demon Slayer Hashira and explaining why I think they are the beverages I chose.

Starting with the Water Hashira Giyu, I felt he’d be a classic cold brew coffee. This is because Giyu in the show is always feeling like he is not like the other Hashira and doesn’t fit in, so an unsweetened black coffee is the epitome of I am different than all of you. Also, Giyu is very stoic and not vying for the center of attention, but is integral to the shows plot, making a classic unassuming coffee perfect for him. Sometimes, simple is as good as it gets!

The exact opposite of Giyu is Tengen, the Sound Hashira. He is as flashy and flamboyant as they come, even calling himself the “God of Festivities.” He wants everything bold and over the top, which is why I felt a hibiscus lemon iced tea would be perfect. Not only does it complement his color pallet, but it adds that zing of energy that I imagine Tengen requires. Also, the beverage has tons of edible shimmer glitter in the drink to make it extra flashy.

Following Tengen, we have Gyomei the Stone Hashira. He is physically the strongest Hashira, which is why I felt a beverage that requires the strongest of pallets to enjoy would fit him perfectly. Gyomei is a hojicha latte, which is a roasted green tea latte that has very strong flavors, just like his strength. I added Okinawa black sugar, as it looks like rocks, perfect to resemble the Stone Hashira.

Shinobu, the Insect Hashira, is known for killing demons with wisteria poison that she has crafted. This makes a butterfly pea tea with lemon to be the perfect fit for her. Her iconic haori that looks like butterfly wings and her butterfly hair clip, made butterfly pea tea the obvious choice. Also, since the tea is known for being color changing, it felt right up her alley given she’s into chemistry. The final touches for this drink were shimmer powder and a sprig of wisteria!

The Love Hashira Mitsuri is known for her hair that turned green and pink from eating sakura mochi for 8 months straight. Naturally, her beverage had to be a matcha latte with sakura foam to represent her beautiful hair color. Also, pink goes perfect with her style of breathing: love!

I thought the Serpent Hashira Obanai would be best represented by a black sesame latte with ube foam. Obanai has a black and white striped haori which is represented in the straw and by the sesame latte. The ube foam adds a bit of sweetness, but only for the people he cares about most. I also chose ube over another kind of foam because serpent breathing tends to be represented as purple when fighting!

Now, for my personal favorite Hashira, the Flame Hashira Kyojuro. Since he loves all things that are umai (tasty) and practices flame breathing, I knew a spicy chai latte would be perfect for him. I decided on adding blood orange and torched cinnamon to better represent the flame breathing style. This beverage is spicy and not for the faint of heart, exactly how Kyojuro would like it.

The Wind Hashira Sanemi has a very bold and sometimes controversial personality. However, on the inside he really is trying to work through all the pain he’s endured because of demons. For this, I felt a calming iced jasmine matcha would help to bring upon relaxation but also be energizing for taking down the demons. There is no fluff to this drink: no sugar, no sparkles, just jasmine tea and matcha working together to make an earthy drink. I imagine Sanemi doesn’t like the fluff in his beverages anyway. I went with matcha as Sanemi’s sword is green and Wind breathing is often represented as such.

Last but certainly not least we have the Mist Hashira Muichiro. Muichiro is the youngest Hashira, only 14 years old, which means no harsh caffeine for the child! Instead, I went for a pea flower latte with lavender syrup. Muichiro needs the calming energy in his life as he tries to regain his lost memories. The variations of blue in the pea flower latte represent the color of mist breathing, and there’s a dried ice floater on top to represent the mist of his breathing style and what is clouding his memories.

I truly had so much fun with this project. It was really fun getting to imagine some of my favorite characters as beverages and to add my own artistic spin!

If you are a Demon Slayer fan and enjoy these pieces, I just launched a sticker sheet on my Etsy featuring all nine designs!

Homemade Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew

Hey Sunny Siders, today I’m sharing my favorite fall coffee recipe! I’ve always loved the Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, but felt like I could make it myself and save some money! I’ve been playing around and this is currently my favorite way to have my favorite fall coffee on a budget!

0.45 g coffee grounds

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1 C heavy whipping cream

1/2 T pumpkin pureee

1 T vanilla syrup + 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice

Directions

Add 0.45 g coffee grounds and 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice to 1 cup of water. Stir and let sit in fridge for at least 8 hours (overnight preferred)

Add cold brew coffee to a glass and top with desired amount of foam.

Sprinkle with more pumpkin pie spice and enjoy!

Christmas Cookie Latte Recipe (Blogmas Day 4)

Hey Sunny Siders, welcome to blogmas day 4! Today I’ve got a coffee recipe that is perfect for the holidays! Here’s how you can make a Christmas Cookie Latte at home for a relatively affordable price!

Christmas Cookie Sweet Foam (serves about 4 coffees)

• 1 C Heavy Whipping Cream

• 1 C Milk (I used Whole Milk)

• 2 T Vanilla Syrup

• 1 T Caramel Syrup

• 1/8 tsp Almond Extract

Option 1: K-Cup Method

Add all the ingredients for the Christmas Cookie Sweet Foam into a liquid measuring cup. Use a frother to whip air into the foam until it is thick and viscous.

Start by brewing a K-cup of your liking, I used the cinnamon sugar cookie K-cup from Green Mountain.

Depending on if you’re looking for a hot or iced latte, once the coffee is brewed stick it in the fridge to cool down, or get ready for the next step.

Once coffee is cool or freshly brewed, pour sweet foam over top and sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon.

Option 2: Espresso Method

Add all the ingredients for the Christmas Cookie Sweet Foam into a liquid measuring cup. Use a frother to whip air into the foam until it is thick and viscous.

Use your espresso maker to make an espresso of your choosing, I opted for Café Bustelo.

Depending on if you’re looking for a hot or iced latte, either brew the espresso over ice or brew it normally.

Once your espresso is ready, pour into glass with or without ice and top with sweet foam. Then sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon.

My Favorite Coffee Shop #4: Endiro Coffee

Hello foodies, and welcome to another Foodie Friday! Today I have another one of my personal favorite coffee shops to share with you.

The Atmosphere:

Upfront, Endiro looks like it’s a tiny little coffee shop. However, it has the addition a hidden gem basement and an outdoor patio that add lots of seating. The basement is decked out with old, historic furniture and an assortment of kick knacks that make it extra cozy. The outdoor seating has an assortment of vintage like tables and overlooks a beautiful downstairs patio and river. Instantly, you are transported to a picture perfect Instagram worthy location

The Food:

Endiro has a small menu, but that doesn’t mean the food isn’t exceptional. They have the absolute BEST avocado toast I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It is served on a crusty bread with red pepper aioli, freshly sliced avocado, tomato, basil, and red pepper flakes. They also have a ton of hand made vegan baked goods that look phenomenal.

The Coffee:

Endiro uses Ugandan coffee beans in their assorted specialty lattes and drinks. The Sticky Bun Latte is my personal favorite. It has a wonderful pungent coffee flavor, but a hint of cinnamon adds a nice sweetness that ties the whole drink together.

Endiro Avocado Toast with Sticky Bun Latte

The Verdict:

I absolutely love Endiro coffee. It is an entire experience from the sublime food, to the aromatic coffee, to the aesthetic decor that is perfect for pictures. It truly is a wonderful little gem of a coffee shop.

I hope you all enjoyed this next installment of my list of favorite coffee shops. Be on the lookout for the next shop on my list.

I’ve recently had to give up all forms of dairy in order to test one of my worst fears: I might be lactose intolerant. Usually, I make my oats with whey protein but because I can’t have that I decided to switch it up and I am very pleased with the results!

My Favorite Coffee Shop #3 Bold Bean Coffee Roasters

Hello friends and welcome to another Foodie Friday! I’m back with another coffee shop review and I hope you are as excited as I am.

The Atmosphere:

When you walk into Bold Bean Coffee Roasters, you get a chill relaxed vibe. Vibrant mint green chairs and lights add a nice pop of color to this very modern, sleek design. The aroma of coffee permeates throughout the shop, giving a warm and inviting feel. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available, which makes this a perfect place for any kind of weather.

The Food:

Bold Bean doesn’t disappoint when it comes to the menu. They have a wonderful selection of vegan pastries that are to DIE for. They also have a ful breakfast and lunch menu with varying styles of toast and sandwiches that I cannot wait to try when I go again. Once that really caught my eye was the honey butter toast, and I am looking forward to giving it a try when I go back. When I went to Bold Bean, I had a homemade granola bar that was absolutely scrumptious. Crunchy oats combined with dried fruit, nuts, and chocolate created a perfect medley in my mouth. The bar held together nicely and had the perfect crunch to chew ratio that all good granola bars should have. What I truly loved about this granola bar was that it wasn’t overly sweet so it paired perfectly with my coffee.

The Coffee:

Bold Bean knows their coffee. They have a wonderful selection of lattes, macchiatos, mochas, and more. I had a plain black coffee and the flavor was phenomenal. The coffee had such a rich, intense flavor and I loved every sip. You know a coffee shop is good when the plain black coffee is bursting with flavor. Bold Bean also has a unique and wide variety of teas on their menu and I’m looking forward to giving those a try too.

The Verdict:

Overall, I would highly recommend Bold Bean Coffee Roasters. They have such a great atmosphere, plus their food and coffee is delicious. This is one of those places that you know you can go and get something that will leave you with a smile on your face.

Schooner Or Later

Hello Foodies, and welcome to another Foodie Friday! Sorry it has been so long since my last food blog, I have been extremely busy and haven’t had much time to write. Don’t forget that if you want quality food content I have a food Instagram @sunnysidewithsiri where I post food reviews as often as I can!

This truly was the best eggs Benedict I have ever had! The eggs were poached to perfection and had that beautiful, silky yolk that a great poached egg should have. The hollandaise had a wonderful creamy texture and a hint of lemon that added a nice acidity to the dish. The crab added a wonderful savory element that paired phenomenally with the avocado. The English muffin was nice and crisp, adding a bit of crunch that tied the whole dish together. Overall, I was so pleased with this dish and I would highly recommend giving it a try for yourself!
