Fall Decor In My Home

Hey Sunny Siders and happy first official day of fall! As you know I’ve been in fall mode since August, but to celebrate the start of my favorite season of the year, I wanted to share some photos of how I’ve decorated for fall and Halloween this year!

I hope these photos of my home can serve as inspiration for how you can decorate your home for the fall season! Looking forward to a great few months of fall flavors and fun!

Fall is Here…In My Mind Anyway

Hello Sunny Siders! We’ve finally made it to my favorite part of the year, Fall! I have always loved fall so much and I figured why not share some of the things I love most about fall!

The Weather

I love fall weather, even though I barely ever get to experience it where I live. However, I grew up where fall was always amazing. The temperature is perfect, the humidity goes away and best of all the leaves turn a gorgeous orange and red as they fall off the tree. I just adore everything about the weather this time of year!

The Clothing

Complimentary to the weather is fall fashion. It’s the perfect time of year where layering actually can be cute. In summer, you’ll practically sweat to death if you layer, and in winter you need so many layers you can’t even see the outfit you’re wearing. This is not a problem in fall though. It’s the perfect time to wear a turtleneck with a sweater vest, or a collared shirt underneath a crewneck. Better yet, through some fleece tights under a skirt and you’ve got some amazing fall outfits. The same could technically be said for spring, but what allows fall to take the cake is the next category.

The Colors

Fall has the best color palette of any season in my opinion. The beautiful browns, greens, oranges, and reds are just stunning this time of year. As someone who love brown, this is exactly why fall beats spring on the fashion front. I can layer so many gorgeous shades of brown into one outfit and my soul is happy.

The Flavors

The seasonal flavors of fall hands down are my favorite. I love the flavors of pumpkin, apple, squash, sage and cinnamon at this time of year. I’m getting giddy thinking about some of my favorite recipes I’ll get to make soon now that it’s fall. Butternut squash Alfredo and sheet pan gnocchi are on the docket in the next few weeks and I couldn’t be more excited! Also, have you ever had an apple cider donut? They’re literally the best donuts ever!

The Ambience

I love all the little additions to my home during the fall season. Cute little pumpkins and ghosts are scattered all about my apartment. Decorative towels and potion bottles galore really add a layer of warmth to my home this time of year. Beyond the decor, I love the fall ambience playlists on YouTube this time of year. I get to bring out my favorites like Cozy Autumn Nintendo Music and Lofi for Witches Only both of which bring so much joy to my life.

Halloween

Finally, arguably the best holiday happens during fall. Halloween is so much fun. I love decorating and dressing up for this holiday. Not to mention there are so many wonderful films to watch this time of year. I always loved Trick or Treating as a kid and now as an adult I just love seeing what clever costumes people can come up with, it’s a blast!

Fall Gnocchi Sheet Pan Bake

Hey Sunny Siders, I’m popping off with another fall recipe! Y’all are getting spoiled because it’s my favorite season of the year for everything: food, fashion, decor, weather, ambiance, holidays… I could go on forever, but we have a recipe to get to! This recipe is loosely inspired by kalememaybe on Instagram video here.

Ingredients

1 package gnocchi (I used potato gnocchi, but any kind will work)

1 red onion, sliced

5 cloves of garlic, minced

1 package sausage (I used hot italian sausage, but any kind will work)

1 package of mushrooms

1 handful of fresh sage leaves, finely chopped

1 4 oz tube of goat cheese

1 package of arugula

Drizzle of olive oil

Salt to taste

Pepper to taste

Directions

Preheat the over to 450°F

Start by removing the casing from the sausage and breaking into bite sized chunks. In a pan, brown the sausage on medium-high heat.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and add: gnocchi, mushrooms, onion, sage, and garlic

Once sausage is browned, add to baking tray. Drizzle everything with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Use a wooden spoon to mix everything together and bake for 30 minutes until sausage and gnocchi are cooked, stirring half way.

Once finished baking, sprinkle with goat cheese and give everything a generous mix.

To plate, add a bed of arugula and top with the gnocchi sausage bake. Enjoy!

Homemade Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew

Hey Sunny Siders, today I’m sharing my favorite fall coffee recipe! I’ve always loved the Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, but felt like I could make it myself and save some money! I’ve been playing around and this is currently my favorite way to have my favorite fall coffee on a budget!

Ingredients

0.45 g coffee grounds

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1 C heavy whipping cream

1/2 T pumpkin pureee

1 T vanilla syrup + 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice

Directions

Add 0.45 g coffee grounds and 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice to 1 cup of water. Stir and let sit in fridge for at least 8 hours (overnight preferred)

Add heavy whipping cream, pumpkin purée, vanilla syrup, and pumpkin pie spice to a mason jar. Shake thoroughly until all ingredients are combined and cream becomes frothy and viscous.

Add cold brew coffee to a glass and top with desired amount of foam.

Sprinkle with more pumpkin pie spice and enjoy!

Random Things I’ve Been Loving Lately (Part 6): Fall Edition

Hey Sunny Siders, now that it’s officially fall I thought it’d be fun to share some of my fall favorites. Personally, Fall is my favorite time of year so I can’t wait to share all the things I’ve been loving!

Fashion

Sweater vests

If you’ve followed the blog for awhile, you know that my favorite clothing item is the sweater vest. I love the versatility in how you can style these and really elevate an outfit. For fall, I’m loving brown and cream colored vests that I can layer overtop a polo or turtleneck!

Turtlenecks

Turtlenecks are such a great item for fall because you can wear it as is, or layer with so many fun items like: sweater vests, long trench coats, and cardigans.

Collared shirts

Another item that is perfect for layering! I love a good collared shirt under a crew neck sweater in the fall, it makes you feel so put together.

Baggy jeans

Baggy jeans are a year round staple, but with the aforementioned items they really elevate an outfit to the next level. Playing around with colored jeans is also so fun during the fall, especially brown jeans!

Checkered printed pants

I’ve been loving pattered pants lately, and my favorite style for fall is a checkered print. A nice brown or burnt orange checkered pant with a cream colored top is a staple for me this time of year.

Plaid skirts

This one is very off brand if you’ve know me for a long time. I’ve always HATED skirts, but in the past year or so my outlook has changed drastically. I love me a good plaid tennis skirt with a collared shirt/sweater combo. One of my go to outfits is a beige plaid skirt with a brown turtleneck.

Loafers

Do I need to say more? Loafers are the perfect fall shoe! Pair it with some mid-calf sweater socks and you have just elevated your outfit to the next level.

Doc Martens

Another perfect pair of shoes for fall is Doc Martens. I personally love the platform Docs, but any style with do!

Sweater socks

Another simple way to elevate your fall wardrobe is with sweater socks! It seems so simple, but trust me a nice pair of chunky sweater socks can really take your outfit up a notch.

Brown EVERYTHING

Brown is the color of fall, end of story. All shades just look absolutely perfect this time of year. Don’t sleep on the color brown, it is the bedrock of fall fashion.

Food/Beverage

Apple cider donuts

My personal favorite ones are from Trader Joe’s. RUN, because they will be out so fast once they’re in stock!

Butternut squash ravioli

I love the ones from Aldi! I make a maple, sage, cream sauce with cranberries and pecans that pairs perfectly!

Pumpkin and Ghost printed pillsbury cookies

These bring me pure joy during the fall season. I’ve already done an entire blog post about my love for these cookies, so I won’t go off on all the reasons I adore them here.

Cinnamon spice tea

I nice hot cup of tea as you cozy up on the couch to wind down is my ideal night during fall. My family loves this cinnamon spice tea specifically! It’s so flavorful that you don’t even need to add cream or sugar. Plus, they make a decaf version, perfect for bed!

Decor

Mushroom stacked mugs

I found this adorable set of mugs at Marshall’s recently. They stack together to make one big mushroom. Truly one of favorite fall purchases this year!

Deadly nightshade mug

My mom surprised me with this mug from HotTopic and I just about screamed. If you’re a Nightmare Before Christmas fan like me, this mug is for you!

Ghost mug

I found this lil guy at Target last week and just had to get him! I mean look at that face, he’s so cute!

Fall scented candles

The perfect way to capture those fall vibes is with cozy scented candles. I always have a candle lit this time of year just to keep the ambiance alive.

Halloween throw blankets

Throw blankets are such an easy way to decorate a space for fall. I have both a pumpkin and skeleton one from Target a few years ago that bring me so much joy this time of year!

Music

Cozy Autumn Nintendo Music

This is my favorite playlist to listen to during fall. I discovered this video last year and have been WAITING to listen to it again. If you like Nintendo music and you love fall, you need to listen to this playlist!

Nintendo Halloween Music

Once you’re ready for Halloween music, check out this awesome Nintendo playlist. It has the perfect spooky factor combined with all the nostalgia of Nintendo. It’s so good!

Lo-fi for Witches (Only)

If you’re not a big Nintendo fan like myself, I highly recommend checking out this playlist. It’s so cozy with the perfect spook factor. Perfect for getting in the Halloween spirit, or a gloomy fall day!

Random Things I’ve Been Loving Lately (part 3)

Hey Sunny Siders, it’s time for another installment of random things I’ve been loving! I am so sorry for being so inactive lately, this is my last semester of undergraduate studies and I’ve been slammed with tests and exams. I seriously feel like I’ve got no time on my hands, but it’s all worth it knowing I’ll be graduating in just about 2 months! Today I’m sharing some of my fall clothing favorites! Over the past year fashion has become a large part of my life. I have been really enjoying dressing up and finding my own sense of style! Putting on a cute outfit makes me feel so powerful and ready to take on the world in a way I cannot truly describe with justice.

Fall Clothing Must Haves:

• Mom Jeans

Let me just tell you, once you try on a pair of mom jeans you can never go back to skinny jeans. These are seriously the most comfortable pants out there right now!

• Colored Jeans (brown, grey, etc)

I recently found a pair of brown jeans (mom jeans obviously) at Target and they have enhanced my fall wardrobe so well.

• Patterned Jeans/ Pants (checkered, 70’s groovy inspired, etc)

I actually got into patterned pants over the summer, it is such a great way to spice up an outfit especially for shirts that are solid without pattern.

• Long Sleeve Turtle Necks

I’m not talking sweaters here (that’s for winter), but rather a regular long sleeve t-shirt with a turtle neck. These are perfect for fall because you can layer with sweater vests or t-shirts without getting too hot.

• Sweater Vests

If I could, I would buy just about every sweater I saw at the store. These are perfect for layering and can instantly elevate an outfit. I feel so put together when I wear a sweater vest.

• All Clothing Colored Brown

If I’m being honest, brown has become one of my favorite clothing colors, because there are so many shades you can play around with! I love mixing and matching different shades of brown into one outfit.

• Doc Marten Boots

I have a pair of white doc marten boots and they have been a staple this fall. I feel so put together every time I wear them.

• Sweater Socks

These are perfect with boots in the fall. Just by wearing a higher length sock that is thicker you can totally elevate an outfit.

• Halloween Graphic Tees

I will just come out and say it, Halloween is my favorite holiday. I am wearing a cute ghost or Nightmare Before Christmas as much as possible during this time of year!

• Jean Jacket

These are perfect for layering with the long sleeve turtlenecks I mentioned earlier. I suggest playing around with colored jean jackets too. No shocker here, but I thrifted a brown jean jacket last weekend and it has added so much sophistication to my wardrobe.

• Patchwork Sweaters

When I think patchwork I instantly think of scarecrows (for some reason) and it just screams fall. I found a super cute patchwork knitted sweater on Amazon that I have been styling with my brown jeans and doc martens on repeat this season.

• Bucket Hats

You can elevate your fall wardrobe just by wearing a hat! I love to wear hats on days I’m too lazy to fix my hair up nicely, because wearing a hat just makes you feel put together!

I hope you all enjoyed my fall fashion favorites! Be on the lookout for my next blog post (hopefully next weekend) when I share all the details about my recent trip to Boston! I can’t wait to share all the amazing photos I took and talk about the amazing places I visited, so stay tuned!
